Sound healing uses sound frequency to deepen meditation, stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, and create an environment of healing and relaxation for listeners.
By gently listening to sound, listeners transition from a beta brainwave state (alert, active) to meditative, calm and relaxed alpha and theta brainwave states. Additionally, sound is used to stimulate the vagus nerve, up-regulating the parasympathetic nervous system. This allows the heart rate and breathing rate to slow down, trigging to the body to relax and arrive in the present moment.
Using combinations of sound frequencies and harmonics, sound can be used to create scared spaces for listeners to release emotional baggage, physical pain, mental distractions and blocked energy. Some sound frequencies can be used to create natural binaural beats which help to reduce anxiety, lessen chronic pain, and promote deep relaxation.
